Looking back

This morning, as I was looking back at photos, (looking for one of Appy, the Appaloosa), I found pictures from the last Impact Mission Trip I attended, in 2005.

As I looked at the pictures, I was feeling a bit melancholy, I looked, happy. Sometimes I miss the woman I used to be. So much less responsibility, younger, full of hope.

Then, I got the update, that VF1 had posted the newest devotional…

About guarding our tongues…

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

James 3:3‭-‬6 NIV

I realized that I have grown so much. I am learning how to guard my tongue… I am no where near perfect at it… but God isnt finished with me yet.

Faith Centered In Christ

1. People who LEAD well, do well.

Faith Centered In Christ

2. God will allow a problem to persist to DEVELOP our faith.
Bible is not equal opportunity
jesus called up 3. The others had to wait at the bottom
Both teams had issues

you can not be a leader without running into devils

The first one there stands a better chance.

quit blaming everyone else.

causes doubt.

Faith Centered In Culture

1. You live in a UNBELIEVING generation.
we live in culturally centered faith. Ourgeneration doesn’t believe or take God seriously enough.

live to the audiance of l- Jesus

Get back in the word

Matthew 17:20 MSG
20 “Because you’re not yet taking God seriously,” said Jesus. “The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn’t be able to tackle.”

Faith Centered In Culture

2. You are not WORKING your faith; it’s homeless.
faith like a mustard seed.
can’t vacuum all of the seeds offaith

Communicating Faith

1. Faith without WORD is dead.
you need to know the word.

Romans 10:9

“We confess with our mouths what we believe in our hearts.”

Communicating Faith

2. We have a SEED on our side.
youdon’t need a bunch of seed
you need one seed

Matthew 17:1-9 NASB
1 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

Matthew 17:14-20 NASB
14 When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17 And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” 20 And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Our Cray Cray

1. A prayer worth praying: “God, deliver me from BAD CHOICES.”
we have an innate ability to make decisions. Ability comes from God.
where we are today
is A result of the choices we make today.

3.Big choices –
1. following Jesus
2. your Career choice
3. who you marry?

other important decisions:
what church you attend.
ACTS 1:15-26. judas was one of us
There was other people With the disciples. cast lots

Our Cray Cray

2. It’s the VOIDS in life that we must learn to get comfortable with.
all 120people were full of the holy spirit.
Judas chose profit over purpose

Jesus knew who would betray him.
you serve the devil so long, you can’t repent.
Lord, amI letting the devil in? am I giving him a foothold in my life.

Be careful who you bring into your team.

an empty chair is better than the wrong person.

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

when we want something we tend to manipulate.

Our Cray Cray

3. When we want our way, we can MANIPULATE anything into being the will of God.

God’s Cray Cray

1. God’s choices come with WARNING labels.
God chose me for vLCS
God.chose craig forme.
God chose me for Craig.

We may not always like Gods choices. God chose saul~ Paul.

Gods ways are not our ways.

God’s Cray Cray

2. One indicator of God making a MOVE; it will be crazier than you ever imagined.
often our time says don’t make sense.

God will always stretch you. what ever you are thinking it is too small.

Too many people choose places over purpose

unexpected blessing. come from unexpected places.
I didn’t want to live in Visalia

God’s Cray Cray

3. Unexpected BLESSINGS come from unexpected places.
1. Live in humility
2. find an older believer for Godly counsel
3. inspiration) experience. knowledge puffs you up. God gives inspiration. Thank you Jesus for the inspiration you have given, so freely.

Acts 1:15 MSG
15‭-‬17 During this time, Peter stood up in the company—there were about 120 of them in the room at the time—and said, “Friends, long ago the Holy Spirit spoke through David regarding Judas, who became the guide to those who arrested Jesus. That Scripture had to be fulfilled, and now has been. Judas was one of us and had his assigned place in this ministry.

Acts 1:18 MSG
18‭-‬20 “As you know, he took the evil bribe money and bought a small farm. There he came to a bad end, rupturing his belly and spilling his guts. Everybody in Jerusalem knows this by now; they call the place Murder Meadow. It’s exactly what we find written in the Psalms: Let his farm become haunted So no one can ever live there. “And also what was written later: Let someone else take over his post.

Acts 1:21 MSG
21‭-‬22 “Judas must now be replaced. The replacement must come from the company of men who stayed together with us from the time Jesus was baptized by John up to the day of his ascension, designated along with us as a witness to his resurrection.”

Acts 1:23 MSG
23‭-‬26 They nominated two: Joseph Barsabbas, nicknamed Justus, and Matthias. Then they prayed, “You, O God, know every one of us inside and out. Make plain which of these two men you choose to take the place in this ministry and leadership that Judas threw away in order to go his own way.” They then drew straws. Matthias won and was counted in with the eleven apostles.
