Time away is important.

(Jan. 1, 2019)

I got to spend time away with my husband. I found that we need unhurried time together, and home isnt the best place for it. I also find peace at the beach….

My word for 2019 is Hope…. not just any hope… but Hope in Jesus….

Our first day was spent wandering Santa Barbara. We found an amazing camp ground…. El Capitan stste park…. and walked…a lot.

Street sign, reminded me that my word for 2019 is hope.

Sometimes, signs say it so much better.

Random dude that does random beach sculpting….

Sambos…. not sure this is politically correct today….

I love him… wish he was home more often.

My husband and daughter laugh at me… but dang! That Is a lot of geocaches!

We saw Mary Poppins returns. It was cute.

Visited the santa barbara mission.

Fed Fritos (illegally) to the birds.

Kind of funny when a stranger comes to take pictures of the birds you feed…

Boats, boats, and more boats

On the sunset cruise.

New years eve dinner on the wharf with this guy…. he makes me laugh….

New years day…Goletta.Starbucks…. more birds.

State park in Goletta…. right behind a residential area. The beach was fantastic. We walked 2 miles… (in 2 hours), and enjoyed the sun, surf and each other.

These are tide pools…. the black is actually tar….a tidbit I would have missed had I not looked at my GZ app.

Looking back

This morning, as I was looking back at photos, (looking for one of Appy, the Appaloosa), I found pictures from the last Impact Mission Trip I attended, in 2005.

As I looked at the pictures, I was feeling a bit melancholy, I looked, happy. Sometimes I miss the woman I used to be. So much less responsibility, younger, full of hope.

Then, I got the update, that VF1 had posted the newest devotional…

About guarding our tongues…

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

James 3:3‭-‬6 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/jas.3.3-6.NIV

I realized that I have grown so much. I am learning how to guard my tongue… I am no where near perfect at it… but God isnt finished with me yet.

Eternity

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
Ecclesiastes 3:11‭-‬12 NIV
https://bible.com/bible/111/ecc.3.11-12.NIV

I have been awe-sruck by this verse lately. God has set eternity in the human heart.

As a child, I believed in Jesus. I may not have trusted him then, but I often sought him. I was comfortable at church. Felt as though I belonged…I dont know that I felt that anywhere else…

I didn’t have others to talk to, so thought I was weird, and had an overactive imagination. But today, I count these thoughts and ideas, as young a 5 years old… as part of the threads of my story.
