God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:1-11 NIV
We often read, “Be still”, and in our day to day struggles, try… but when you consider the struggles of the psalmist:
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
We are still told…to be still….
I am praying for a revival. Lord, revive your people, call more to you Jesus…call Miranda and Deven….
Looking to see what God’s word says we should do with the poor.
James says to give and care for their needs… how does this apply to those that are homeless or poor because of their choices? I continued looking elsewhere,
I am currently grappling with the idea, what do we do with the homeless around us….
- Do not consider them as an enemy
- If they choose to not work, warn them
- If they don’t work, they don’t eat
- There will always.be poor among you
- Do we judge as to why they are poor?
Is there a difference between the poor among us, and those that use drugs? Where does mental health come into play? Why have I not given this much thought in the past?
