Reflections

“Jesus Always” was talking about our experience in eternity, but, this verse struck a chord in me.  I realized, about in High school, that what you see in your reflection can be distorted. It may depend on the light, (the brighter the light, more flaws and imperfections are seen). It may also depend on what specifically you are looking at. My phone camera reflects my face, but I look older in it, than I do in a mirror.  Water tends to give me ripples, or are those really wrinkles.

Just as our reflection can be distorted, how distorted can our perspective be on other people?  Especially when viewed through different media, or circumstances? When people show you who they are, listen.

Lord, help me to listen, as you would. Please give me a heart like yours and discernment to understand that the vision I see is not always what is there. I know some people only want to shownme what they choose, and will then go around and show others something different.  When this happens, give me to courage to call all peoplw together in kindness and love, to truly seek to understand.  Amen

Absolute Truth vs Relativism

1. ABSOLUTE Truth: Whatever is true at one time and at one place is true at all times and all places. What is true for one person is true for all persons. True is true whether we believe it or not.

True is true whether we believe-or not

Absolute Truth vs Relativism

2. RELATIVISM TRUTH: A theory, especially in ethics that conceptions of truth and moral values are not absolute but are relative to the person or groups holding them.

Absolute Truth vs Relativism

3. Tolerance: To allow, permit or to recognize others beliefs and practices without sharing them. True Tolerance says I disagree, I don’t accept what you believe as truth but I don’t hate you.

can be tolerant without agreeing believing

Pseudo Tolerance

1. Today’s tolerance says, I must accept all beliefs and behaviors as equally VALID.
—————————
I respect Your right to believe what you want to believe , behave as you want to behave , but I also love you too much to remain silent about it.

2. Today’s tolerance finds it impossible to LABEL any behavior right or wrong.
—————————
That’s just wrong.
If other religions say that Can get you to heaven without Jesus they are wrong

3. Today’s tolerance is INTOLERANT of others points of view.

True Tolerance

1. True tolerance requires that we make a JUDGEMENT.

True Tolerance

2. True tolerance will not allow me to be SILENT about everything.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5 NIV
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.

True Tolerance

3. True tolerance is based on GENUINE concern for other people.

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NLT
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.

Two Questions Surrounding The Resurrection

1. Did it REALLY happen?

John 11:25-26 NKJV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

http://bible.com/114/jhn.11.25-26.NKJV

Colossians 2:13 (MDR) “You were dead in your sins and God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, by nailing them to the Cross.”

Two Reasons To Believe The Resurrection

1. Jesus is who He CLAIMS to be.

Two Questions Surrounding The Resurrection

2. WHY did it happen?

John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

http://bible.com/114/jhn.14.6.NKJV

Two Reasons To Believe The Resurrection

2. Jesus did what He PROMISED He would do.

Mark 10:34 NLT
They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.”

What Difference Does The Resurrection Make?

1. My PAST can be forgiven!

Colossians 2:13 (MDR) “You were dead in your sins and God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, by nailing them to the Cross.”

What Difference Does The Resurrection Make?

2. I acquire POWER to manage life’s problems!

Philippians 4:13 NKJV
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

http://bible.com/114/php.4.13.NKJV

Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

What Difference Does The Resurrection Make?

3. My FUTURE can be secure!

A prayer for the lost.

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit directs me to the most amazing prayers for people He has put on my heart.  As I sat to read Jesus Always (Young, 2016), I was struck by knowing that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and that He has desired for Miranda and Deven to acknowledge that he also died for theirs.  All of the following scriptures point to Jesus… but the one in Luke really resonated with me, as a prayer for my kiddos…

Thank you Lord for your word…

Perseverance

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
James 1:2‭-‬18 NIV
